Pregnancy Check Cattle with WorkCarts

Pregnancy Check Cattle with WorkCarts

Before you set up your WorkCart

For Cattle WorkCarts to work you need to have the cattle in a pasture or a group. If you wish to work a group within a pasture, we recommend creating a group with those cattle. Name it something you'll be able to quickly recognize. Don't worry, cattle can be in pastures and groups at the same time.

Setting Up Your WorkCart

Find the WorkCart setup by going to the Mega Menu and selecting "Work Your Cattle" under "Other".

Once you are here, select the pasture or group you wish to work. Click the "Create WorkCarts" button.

Fill out the form details. The date should be the date you plan to work your cattle.

Customizing the Pregnancy Check task

Select the "Add Pregnancy Check" task and you'll see the container to customize this task open below.

Task Options

To understand more about what the "Show" option means, read this article
  1. Breeding Details - If you have breeding details connected to your cattle, you'll be able to see these details in the WorkCart. More about breeding options here.
  2. Check Method and Preg Check Date - Typically these will be the same across the entire WorkCart. You can select the method and date and then uncheck "show". This will store these details without cluttering the columns in the WorkCart.
  3. Results - you can select an option if you expect something specific or you can leave this as is and use the WorkCart to select the results on an animal by animal basis.
  4. Pregnancy Range - Similar to the above. You can select a default range, and then keep "show" checked and you can update this for any cattle that don't fit into the range.
  5. Sex - see above.
  6. Days after Breeding - We suggest this if you do a blood test to confirm pregnancy status. These results often have a "days after breeding" column.
  7. Breeding Type - We've defaulted this to not show. If you have breeding details connected to your cattle records, you won't need to do anything with this field as we already know the details. If you do not have breeding details connected to the cattle, you can select the breeding type to better track the conception to calving path.
When you are finished setting up the task, select "Work Cattle" to get straight to the WorkCart or "Update WorkCart" if you want to save this and come back to it later.

Working Your Cattle

If you click Work Cattle you'll see some version of the below.

To save and come back to the WorkCart click "Save to WorkCart" on each row or "Save All". To complete the WorkCart and store this data with the animal record, hit "Mark as Completed".
